Christmas Away
Words and music by Warren Payne
Oh, the bright lights are shining on our old Christmas tree
And the presents are hidden away
How I wish I could be there, you sharing with me
But I’m gone, spending Christmas away.
Oh, the nights by the fire, you keeping me warm
Running errands all through the day
Drinking hot apple cider, eating cookies and more
But I’m gone, spending Christmas away.
There’s snow out my window and cold in my heart
As I stare out my window today
But there’s nothing that warms me like the thought of your love
And it chases my blues away.
How I long for your smile, me looking at you
How I love you more than I can say
But for now I’ll remember, I’ll keep my love true
‘Til I’m home, not Christmas away
I want to be home, not Christmas away.
