Ka’anapali Road Trip
Words and Music by Ed Johson
Gotta get my plane ticket
The rain’s fallin’ all over town
One more day of wind chill, my face will be stuck in a frown
A little island lift-off and I am flyin’ Maui-bond
Open up the plane doors and I can smell the island breeze
Tubrose flower, jasmine, pull me toward banyon trees
Drivin’ by the sugar cane
Cruisin’ toward the bright blue seas
Ka’anapali road trip drivin’ by Lahaina way
Ka’anapali road trip drivin’ by Lahaina way
Can’t wait to see my girl in a cool blue bikini today
Can’t wait to see the hotel our room’s got a view of the beach
Hula girl art prints, ukelale music in reach
Got my girl a grass shirt, low-ride bikini in peach
Kapalua’s further north with golf balls cutting the air
Don’t care about the fairway, too many clothes over there
I’d rather stay with her on the beach with the sun in her hair
Five o’clock is calling, the barefoot bar is in my sight
Order up some crab cakes, the evening keeps flyin’ by
Kaanapali sunset dropin’ over Molokai
Finally saw my girl in a cool blue bikini today
